The flu is still at low rates, below the threshold established

influenza activity is at low rates typical of the period pre-epidemic, with an incidence, in the second week of December, 12,20 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, which places it below the threshold for this time of year, 57,81 cases per 100,000.

According to the latest report of the System of Surveillance of Influenza developed by the Institute of Health Carlos III, it is observed a low level of influenza activity in the great majority of the territory, although it has been detected an increase of the incidence in isolated areas of Catalonia, Extremadura, south-east of Castile and León, southwest of Aragon, and more so in the northwest of Asturias.

In regards to the evolution by age groups, the highest incidence rates of influenza are seen in those under 15 years, although in these groups, it is observed a decrease compared to the previous week, while the data can be conditioned by the lack of notification during the bridge of the Constitution.

In the second week of this month, we have reported 4 cases of severe hospitalized confirmed influenza, corresponding to the previous week and from the start of the season have been reported in 10 hospitalizations for the disease.

You have been sent to the laboratories of the system 29 samples sentinel, of which one (3,4 %), notified by the Basque Country, has been positive for the influenza virus B.
